Gamescom 2026 is just around the corner, and Microsoft appears to have saved one of its biggest wildcards for the showfloor. According to new industry reports, Xbox is gearing up to unveil a surprise sequel to an established franchise during its upcoming showcase.

The rumors originated from notable industry insiders, including Windows Central’s Jez Corden and leaker NateTheHate, who point toward a few key details regarding the unannounced project.

• Established Franchise: The game is reportedly a new entry in an ongoing Xbox IP that already has at least two existing releases.
• New Developer: Unlike previous installments in the series, development is said to be handed over to a completely new studio.
• 2026 Release Window: Despite remaining under wraps until now, the title is allegedly targeting a launch later in 2026.

Which Franchise Could Make a Comeback?
